There was no doubt that my trip around the world would involve me returning with a ruck sack bulging with goodies! Here’s some of my favourites finds.
Vietnamese propaganda poster from the Women’s Museum in Hanoi.
Chinese girl from Yangshou – I think I got a set of five for about 50p.
You can’t beat a good magnet, or two! Direct from Alcatraz, San Francisco.
Japanese cigar card poster from the Ad Museum Tokyo (ADMT) – it was a pretty cool place to visit too.
Hand painted animals from one of the many fab craft markets in Antigua, Guatemala.
Double whammy – yellow vase with eggshell dragonfly from Hoi An (which truly is a shoppers paradise) and Chinese paint brushes from Chongqing; I have every intention of trying them out on a silk scarf soon, so watch this space.
Hong Kong silk laundry bag.
Opium pipe from Siem Reap in Cambodia – again the markets here were fab.
Dinky Japanese lady – Tokyo I think.
I had to get my own Terracotta Warrior from Xi-An.
And finally, my very own Karl Marx coin (randomly from Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar and not Russia) and my clay good luck charm from the Witches Market in La Paz, Bolivia.
As you can imagine, these are just a few of my finds. Just wait until I get all of my artwork up and framed 😉
